In a darkened room, a burning candle releases its light and perfume, the mind and body experiences the healing effects of Aromatherapy...

Aromatherapy and Candles

Aromatherapy and candles go hand in hand.  You can create your own Aromatherapy candles by purchasing a kit.  If you have experience in candle making, then you can make your own.  Making your own Aromatherapy candles is a wonderful way to control the amount and choice of Essential Oils that you use.   Not only are Aromatherapy candles a fun and great project; they also make wonderful gifts for friends and family.

burning candle Aromatherapy candles work by releasing their fragrance into the air and thereby remove stress, tension, and negative emotions.  If you are familiar with different herbs and their healing properties, you will be able to create specific Aromatherapy candles that are perfect for treating various conditions.  Many candles are available on the market that contains a “cinnamon” or “orange” scent.   However, these candles are often made from paraffin wax and artificial scents.  Aromatherapy candles should always contain 100% pure organic essential oils as well as be made from organic wax.  A very popular wax used for Aromatherapy candles is Soy Wax.

Soy wax is beneficial for Aromatherapy candles because Soy wax doesn’t contain any pollution and it burns clean.  If you have ever burned a candle and noticed black soot left behind on the inside of the glass candle holder, than you know that paraffin leaves behind residue.  A Soy wax candle will not leave any soot behind.  Various herbs will enhance your Aromatherapy candle and you can combine different herbs for a stunning blend.  Some of the most popular herbs for Aromatherapy candles include citrus oils such as Orange, Lemon, Lime, and Melissa.  You may blend different citrus oils together for an energizing and refreshing candle.  Citrus is used for cleansing and purifying and these candles are no exception.

Some candles will help to enhance your mood and will invoke positive emotions.  For example, Plumeria is associated with joy and is a wonderful candle to help fight depression and restore a sense of well-being and happiness.  If you have a family member or friend who is suffering from depression or sadness, consider giving them a Plumeria, Jasmine, or Sandalwood candle.

If you want to give a candle to someone that you love, consider choosing Patchouli, Rose, or Lavender for these scents are known to symbolize love as well as stimulate the senses.
Other candles are associated with more magical notions such as having the ability to bring money, prosperity, and good dreams.  Some of the herbs that are used to signify prosperity are Clove, Myrrh, and Citronella.  Candles such as Iris, Rose, and Cinnamon are meant to promote creativity.  These are perfect candles to give to writers, artists, and photographers.

Herbs that signify friendship include Musk and Wisteria.  These are perfect candles to offer to a friend or as a gift when you are restoring a friendship after an argument.

Whichever scent you prefer, one thing is certain and that is that Aromatherapy candles are growing more popular every day.  You can give Aromatherapy candles that are perfect for every holiday as well as any time you need a meaningful gift for someone special in your life.
